A new Ferrari Grand Tourer is in the offing and, in an innovative move, will be revealed to the fans and enthusiasts in a non-traditional way. In the build-up to the new model's official unveiling at the Paris Auto Show next October, we'll be revealing it bit by bit on the dedicated ferrarigtcounrtdown.com site which can also be accessed through the official Ferrari portal at ferrariworld.com.
Visitors to the site will be guided through a sensory voyage of discovery which, over the coming weeks, will gradually reveal the new car in its entirety and feature some highly gratifying virtual road tests too.
The new site launches today and begins that voyage of discovery with the sense of sound. The roar of the new GT's engine will be the first bit of it to be revealed to enthusiasts, in fact, and will be followed over the next few days by the first photographs of this eagerly-awaited car whose name will also be revealed.
This is the first time that the Prancing Horse has used this virtual voyage of discovery approach which will allow it to illustrate various aspects of the new GT model's design and the many, many technological innovations that it sports.

Ferrari will take centre stage at Salon Privé's Private and Luxury Super Car Show, opening Wednesday 11th July at The Hurlingham Club, London.
In its second year, Salon Privé is a unique high-society event where VIP-guests can admire the most beautiful luxury and sports cars in the immaculate grounds of one of the UK's most prestigious private members club, The Hurlingham Club.
For this special event, Ferrari will display a unique selection from its range of V8 and V12 models. The 4.3 litre, 490 hp Ferrari F430 represents the Prancing Horse's class leading technological know how and sports car soul and will be displayed together with its 'sister' - born for the track - a F430 Challenge in Team Vertu Racing livery. This car is currently racing in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli series as part of the Ferrari Challenge Dealer Team GB.
From the V12 family, the 599 GTB Fiorano continues Ferrari's tradition of Gran Turismo Berlinetta models, which includes some of the most iconic cars of Ferrari's history, like the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona, and the 575M Maranello. The 599 GTB Fiorano, the most powerful production car Ferrari has ever made, has 620 hp, a specific output of 103 hp/l, a maximum speed of over 205 mph and reaches 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

| Ferrari celebrates 60 year anniversary |
Ferrari is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2007 with a major event from June 21st to June 24th in Maranello, Italy. Maranello will be the finish line in a relay race across five continents where participants will carry a baton embossed with symbols of the 60 greatest moments in the company's history. The relay represents an extraordinary, collective sign of enthusiasm that will bring together Ferrari clients and their cars representing every model and era.
The Ferrari 60 Relay will kick off on January 28th in Abu Dhabi, site of the future Ferrari theme park, and conclude in Maranello on June 24th, after traversing about 50 countries in 148 days. The central theme of the final events is technological innovation pioneered by Ferrari in the 60 years of its existence. For the occasion, Ferrari is assembling its 60 most important innovations, ranging from aluminum pliers for disc brakes to the electric differential and the F1 gearbox.
Against this backdrop Ferrari has organized its first concours d'elegance: a series of events on the track, at the factory and at the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello celebrating the elegance of the Ferrari. An Opera Omnia book will be published on the company's history, a collection of pictures and data on all the road cars and race cars built by Ferrari.
The baton for the Ferrari 60 Relay was specially created to symbolize the history of the company, from its first success at the Rome Grand Prix of 1947 to the Ferrari FXX of 2006. Our clients will carry the baton around the world in their cars. Each country along the way will dedicate to Ferrari an object representative of their local culture and traditions. The local Italian Embassies will then forward the objects to the Farnesina Palace in Rome for an exhibition of the whole collection. Once the exhibit is over, the objects will be auctioned off in Maranello, with the proceeds going to a charity organization.
From Abu Dhabi the long relay will proceed to Dubai, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. From the Emirates it will head east, to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. From Oceania it will fly to South Africa and then on to Latin America, reach Mexico, and from there continue on to United States and Canada. Then to Europe, where it will cross Portugal, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, the United Kingdom, Greece, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey. It will then touch Egypt and Lebanon, and finally to Italy, where it will touch all the main cities finally arriving, after a special ceremony in Rome, in Maranello.
Of particular interest are the 60 symbols created for the 60 events. Enamel reproductions of them by Editalia (Gruppo Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato) will be applied to the baton, and 60 posters of the symbols will also be made. What makes these symbols unique is the fact that they were produced by six different creative teams, guaranteeing a vision of the whole of great graphic and symbolic interest. The Geneva Motor Show provides the venue for Ferrari's unveiling of the new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, the most powerful 12-cylinder berlinetta ever developed at Maranello. This new model combines the most innovative and technologically advanced features ever applied by Ferrari to a front-mid engined two-seater, and sets a new benchmark of excellence in terms of handling, driving pleasure and design.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano boasts absolutely stunning performance: its 6-litre V12, which was developed from the engine that powered the Enzo supercar, punches out 620 hp at 7,600 rpm and combines with an all-aluminium chassis and bodywork for a weight-power ratio of less than 2.6 kg/hp.
The Pininfarina-designed Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano replaces the last in that great line of berlinettas, the 575M Maranello, of which - together with the 550 Maranello introduced in 1996 - no fewer than 5,700 have been produced, a record for this flagship model for the Prancing Horse. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano also owes a debt to Alcoa for its all-aluminium space frame, and to Delphi for its innovative suspension system.
2005 was a highly successful year for Ferrari. While maintaining the brand's exclusivity, Maranello worked hard to reduce the delivery time for new owners and to meet the demands of the new, fast-growing markets. The result was that approximately 5,400 cars were delivered last year. This impressive figure reflects the excellent performance of both the berlinetta and spider versions of the F430 and the 612 Scaglietti (834 of which were delivered) as well as a contribution from the limited edition Superamerica of which 559 were built in total.
Further confirmation of the unique appeal of Ferrari's cars came from the fact that almost every car ordered in 2005 included some personalisation features, selected either directly from the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation Programme or as one-off requests. Since 1997, in fact, Ferrari has been offering its clients the opportunity of using the Programme to enhance their cars
and turn them into truly unique creations. New options are added to the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation Programme each year and its content is extended to encompass each new model launched.
The programme was named in honour of Sergio Scaglietti as it is inspired by the same spirit that drove the great coachbuilder when he first began working with Ferrari, often producing glorious one-off bodies for clients who wanted a truly unique car that went beyond even the Prancing Horse's signature innovation and excellence.
The Ferrari Maserati Group was split up in April and in 2005, concerning only Ferrari's activities posted revenues of € 1,289 million and had a trading profit of € 157 million, an increase of 13.8% on the previous year's figure. This significant improvement was linked principally to the increase in sales volumes and efficiency gains which were partially offset by negative impact of euro-dollar exchange rates.
The 9.7% increase in turnover was contributed to in great part by North America (with approximately 8% more cars sold in 2005 than 2004), Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Switzerland. However, the new and emerging markets (the Middle-East, Eastern Europe and South America) also contributed quite substantially with sales growing significantly there. Thanks to our brand-new dealership network in China, in fact, a total of 82 cars were delivered there, a leap of around 100% on 2004.
As a result, 2006 looks set to be another good year for Ferrari, boosted by the introduction of the new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano which completes a unique, technologically cutting-edge product range, in which each model sets a benchmark in terms of performance, driving pleasure and design. The new 12-cylinder two-seater completes the overhaul of the entire range which started in 2004 with the 612 Scaglietti.

The stunning new all-aluminium two-seater that Ferrari is unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show is summed up rather succinctly by its own name and delivers everything that this promises. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, in fact, sets a new benchmark of excellence in the sports car world.
This new model was designed with several specific objectives in mind: to surpass the intense driving pleasure of such renowned models as the F40, to guarantee stunning performance courtesy of its highly innovative content and technology transfers from the F1 single-seaters, and to deliver superior standards of roominess, comfort, ergonomics and safety. The result is the absolute pinnacle of achievement in terms of thoroughbred Ferrari sportiness and technology.
The new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 3.7 seconds and boasts a top speed in excess of 330 km/h. However, it is still the new model's uniquely innovative content that guarantees superior driving pleasure, handling and sportiness. |

The Ferrari F430 Challenge will make its UK debut at Autosport International in Birmingham. The new racing car is derived from the 8-cylinder road-going berlinetta and will take part in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli one-make championship in 2006. Over 100 F430 Challenge race cars will hit the tracks this year in the three groups of the series in the USA, Italy, and Europe.
Ferrari has also reaffirmed the strong link between its GT and sporting divisions with the new F430 Challenge which is specifically designed to meet the expectations of its sportier clients. The F430 Challenge retains the same general look and 490 hp engine as the road-going version. However, it also incorporates a large number of significant track-oriented modifications and new features not seen in the 360 Modena Challenge, which it joins on the track this season and completely replaces in 2007.
As ever, the transfer from Formula 1 is significant, particularly with regard to the braking system which uses carbon ceramic material (CCM) - a first for a Ferrari sports competition car. The electronic gearbox is also F1-derived and works in exactly the same way as the one used on the grand prix car. Fifth and sixth gear ratios have also been modified with respect to the road-going version, as has the final drive ratio, in order to make the most of the engine on all the circuits where the F430 Challenge will race. The new 19'' slick tyres were specially developed by Pirelli to meet the extremely strict regulations that require the tyres to cope with long distances delivering extremely high performance.
The F430 Challenge boasts a kerb weight of just 1225 kg (excluding fuel). Weight has been reduced in every area of the car: of particular note are the Lexan® windscreen, the all-carbon fibre intake plenum cover, and specific exhaust system. Another important feature introduced in the F430 Challenge is the new steering wheel which has a quick release mechanism to provide easier access for drivers. The steering wheel also has buttons for communication with the pits, to set the pit lane speed and to interface with the new colour digital instrument panel. The rear of the car is characterised by the specific exhaust system which has high central tail pipes, and by the modified grille which increases the extraction of hot air from the rear of the engine bay. The anti-roll bars, springs and single-rate shocks have also been modified for racing use. The F430 Challenge also features new centre-locking wheels and pneumatic air jacks for faster wheel changes in the pit lane.
The F430 Challenge will be seen for the first time in the UK on the Sabelt stand, a new sponsor of the series, at Autosport International, the UK Racing Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

2006 will mark the 14th consecutive year of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. This series is more than one of the most respected and professional Gentleman's Racing Series. It is the embodiment of the Ferrari lifestyle combining exclusive ambience with thrilling competition.
The main innovation for the 2006 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli season centres on the debut of the F430 Challenge which will race alongside the 360 Modena Challenge (with separate races or classes), prior to taking over as the only car for the series in 2007. The new car has even more of a GT philosophy than its predecessor, in terms of its equipment and above all its performance.
The endurance formula for the Challenge races continues. It was successfully introduced last year, featuring a mandatory pit-stop, lasting a set time, thus allowing for the participation of cars driven by a single driver or a crew of two.
The series offers F430 Challenge and 360 Modena Challenge owners the opportunity to use their race cars as they were intended. At certain venues classic models compete in a separate series which also may include historic and legendary Formula 1 cars. As a special highlight, the new Ferrari FXX may also be seen going through its paces at select Challenge events this year.
In 2006 the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli racing series celebrates its 14th consecutive season in Europe with six events scheduled throughout the year and a final event hosted in Italy. The final in October hosts participants from all over the world and wraps up the season with two days of competition in a festival of speed and performance. With the release of the 599 GTB Ferrari is presenting its most powerful V12-engined production car of all time.
Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari's Vice General Manager will announce today at the Detroit Motor Show the birth of the latest model developed in Maranello.
The new car is a concentration of Ferrari's most innovative and technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a mid-front engined two-seater coupe. The result is a new benchmark for performance, driver involvement and design.
The Ferrari 599 GTB boasts class-leading power thanks to its 5,999cc V12 - derived directly from the Enzo Ferrari supercar - which produces no less than 620hp at 7,600 rpm for a weight/power ratio of just 2.6 kg per horsepower.
Ferrari has adopted the latest evolution in its tried and tested all-aluminium construction technology for the body and chassis.
The unmistakable Pininfarina design gives the Ferrari 599 GTB aggressive yet elegant lines which are perfectly integrated with the advanced aerodynamic solutions adopted to reach the performance figures attainable.
This new model is the symbol of Ferrari's production - the V12 berlinetta - and represents the latest interpretation of a theme that has seen such classics as the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, and the 365 GTB4.

Ferrari attends the 18th NAIAS 2006 Detroit Motor Show with five vehicles on display: the FXX, F430 Challenge, F430 Spider, and 612 Scaglietti in two-tone and Handling GTC versions. Ferrari is located on Stand 5 in Oakland Hall, the traditional home of the Prancing Horse at the Detroit Motor Show.
The year 2005 confirmed the extraordinary power of attraction that Ferrari products still exert, not only in traditional markets, but also in new and developing markets. In order to meet growing demand, while maintaining its natural exclusivity, Ferrari increased production, and exceeded 5,000 units in a single year for the first time ever; the main objective was to reduce the waiting time for its cars and to satisfy the demands from new markets that had interesting results.
At the NAIAS 2006 Motor Show in Detroit, the company will present, for the first time in North America, two models bringing together different elements that have been central to Ferrari's philosophy throughout the company's history. Making its debut at the Show is the FXX, a prototype aimed exclusively at 29 of its most dedicated and passionate clients, around which a truly innovative technical client-constructor collaboration programme has been developed. Also on display at Detroit is the F430 Challenge that will debut in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli one-make championship in the 2006 season.
The FXX is the most technologically advanced GT car ever to emerge from Maranello. It will be used exclusively on track as part of a specific ongoing research and development programme featuring the first ever group of Client Test Drivers. This model has not been homologated for road use and racing activities are not foreseen.
The FXX is the culmination of Ferrari's expertise in building special limited-series sports cars combined with its unparalleled racing experience. The FXX will provide the basic framework on which the specifics of future extreme models will be developed. The exceptionally powerful FXX delivers absolutely blistering performance: It is powered by an imposing 6262 cm3 V12 engine which develops over 800 hp at 8500 rpm. The gearbox is the result of the transfer of F1 technology and delivers gear change times of less than 100ms. This is almost as fast as the F1 cars, themselves the absolute pinnacle of current technological achievement. The FXX has a dry weight of 1155 kg with a power-weight ratio of 1.44 kg/hp and completed a lap of Fiorano in under 1'18''00 - a time which gives an indication of the sheer power and performance of this magnificent car.
The FXX's aerodynamic design is also particularly innovative - with a 40% increase in downforce compared to the already impressive Enzo. Ferrari's tyre partner, Bridgestone, developed a specific 19 slick tyre for the FXX, and Brembo created a special brake pad and cooling system for the 398 x 36 mm Composite Ceramic Material discs. Another unique feature of FXX is its sophisticated telemetry system which monitors and provides feedback in real time. The instrument panel, supplied by Magneti Marelli, is specifically designed for the FXX and incorporates a new data acquisition system. A video camera is also installed on the roof of each of the cars, pointing towards the rear, with a special TFT display on the dash removing the need for rear view mirrors.
The FXX package also includes participation in a series of 14 track events organised by Ferrari on various international-level circuits over the coming two years in Europe, North America and Japan, including the Ferrari World Finals. On these occasions, an official team of technicians will be on hand to provide any assistance and support required by the Client Test Drivers. In addition to these unique official events, Clients will also be able to take their cars out on the track independently during private sessions. If Clients wish to leave their car at Maranello while not in use, they will be transported directly by Ferrari to the various circuits for the scheduled events.
Given the car's exceptional performance and the unique nature of the package, delivery of each FXX also includes an advanced driving course with tuition provided by the best professional drivers. Courses take place at the Fiorano circuit where Ferrari conducts its F1 single-seater testing. After the seat and the pedals have been individually molded for each driver, there will be a traditional shakedown followed by a training session to introduce the Client Test Drivers to test driving methodologies.
The first FXXs were delivered in mid-November 2005 and the last will be delivered to their owners by the end of April 2006. The FXX and the relative package cost a total of 1.5 million euro (excluding taxes). Applications to join the programme were evaluated by a special in-house committee.

The FXX package also includes participation in a series of 14 track events organised by Ferrari on various international-level circuits over the coming two years in Europe, North America and Japan (meetings at Spa and the Nurburgring have already been confirmed for 2006). On these occasions, an official team of technicians will be on hand to provide any assistance and support required by the Client Test Drivers. In addition to these unique official events, Clients will also be able to take their cars out on the track independently during private sessions. If Clients wish to leave their car at Maranello while not in use, they will be transported directly by Ferrari to the various European circuits for the scheduled events.
Given the car's exceptional performance and the unique nature of the package, delivery of each FXX also includes an advanced driving course with tuition provided by the best professional drivers. Courses take place at the Fiorano Circuit where Ferrari conducts its F1 single-seater testing. After the seat and the pedals have been individually moulded for each driver, there will be a traditional shakedown followed by a training session to introduce the Client Test Drivers to test driving methodologies. The first FXXs were delivered in mid-November and the last will be with their owners by the end of April next year. The FXX and the relative package cost a total of 1.5 million euro (excluding taxes). Applications to join the programme were evaluated by a special inhouse committee.
The F430 Challenge also makes its Italian debut at the Bologna Motor Show. The new Prancing Horse competition car is derived from the 8-cylinder road-going berlinetta and will take part in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli single-series championship from the 2006 season on.
Ferrari has also reaffirmed the strong link between its GT and sporting divisions with the new F430 Challenge which is specifically designed to meet the expectations of its sportier clients. The F430 Challenge retains the same general look and 490 hp engine as the road-going version. However, it also incorporates a large number of significant track-oriented modifications and a host of new features not seen in the car currently used in the series, the 360 Challenge, which it joins on the track next season and completely replaces in 2007.
As ever, the transfer from Formula 1 is significant, particularly with regard to the braking system which uses carbon ceramic material (CCM) - a first for a Ferrari sports competition car. The electronic gearbox is also F1-derived and works in exactly the same way as the one used on the grand prix car. Thanks to a sintered twin-plate clutch and specific software, it also offers the same gear-changing times as the road-going F430 (150 ms). Fifth and sixth gear ratios have also been modified with respect to the road-going version, as has the final drive ratio, in order to make the most of the engine on all the circuits where the F430 Challenge will race. The new 19'' slick tyres, developed specifically by Pirelli for this track model, are designed to comply with the very strict racing regulations that demand endurance whilst still delivering outstanding performance.
The F430 Challenge boasts a kerb weight of just 1225 kg (excluding fuel). Weight has been reduced in every area of the car: of particular note are the Lexan® windscreen, the all-carbon fibre intake plenum cover, and specific exhaust system. To ensure that drivers extract the full benefit of the car's performance on track, the E-Diff has been replaced by a mechanical differential and the EBD has been replaced with a mechanical system. Similarly, the stability control has been permanently disengaged, while the ASR can be switched off by the driver. All the other electronic systems have been set up in race mode, thus eliminating the need for the manettino switch. The ABS is always active.
Another important feature introduced in the F430 Challenge is the new steering wheel which has a quick release mechanism to provide easier access for drivers. The steering wheel also has buttons for communication with the pits, to set the pit lane speed and to interface with the new colour digital instrument panel. The rear of the car is characterised by the specific exhaust system which has high central tail pipes, and by the modified grille which increases the extraction of hot air from the rear of the engine bay. The anti-roll bars, springs and single-rate shocks have also been modified for racing use. The F430 Challenge also features new centre locking wheels and pneumatic air jacks for faster wheel changes in the pit lane.
The FXX and F430 Challenge are joined on the Ferrari stand at Bologna by the 2004 Formula 1 World Championship-winning single-seater, the 612 Scaglietti, and the coupe and spider versions of the F430. The latter two models have won a plethora of international honours between them, most recently prestigious German car magazine Auto Zeitung's Supercar of the Year award. The F430 Spider was also named Supercar of the Year just last night by BBC Top Gear, completing a well-deserved double for the F430 with the coupe version similarly honoured in 2004.
2005 was an important year for Ferrari both in terms of the company set-up and the new products it unveiled.
In April, the Ferrari Maserati Group was dissolved and ownership of Maserati was transferred to Fiat in order to allow the Trident to establish a closer technical and commercial relationship with Alfa Romeo, particularly on the major international markets. Nonetheless, Ferrari and Maserati continue to collaborate on an industrial level, and with regard to technical projects, engines and sales networks.
At the end of July, the Abu Dhabi government development company, Mubadala, acquired a 5% share in Ferrari from Mediobanca and was immediately committed to being an extremely reliable and stable partner with a range of exciting new business strategies to share. In early November, Ferrari and Aldar, an Abu Dhabi real estate company, announced an exclusive agreement to develop an innovative and exciting Ferrari Area in Abu Dhabi themed around the Ferrari brand.
In October, Ferrari also announced the creation of a new Sales Unit for the Asia-Pacific region which covers a total of 13 markets, amongst which are Japan, China, Australia and Hong Kong. The region has enormous potential for development and is extremely strategic for Ferrari which envisages commercial successes in coming years.
Finally, just a few days ago, Donato Coco joined Ferrari, replacing Frank Stephenson as the Prancing Horse's Chief Designer. Coco will now have the task of stimulating and directing the creativity of Ferrari's partners, including Pininfarina with which the Prancing Horse has enjoyed an exceptionally long and fruitful working relationship. |
| Ferrari's private audience with his Holiness the Pope |
His Holiness the Pope Benedict XVI held a private audience with Ferrari's President Luca di Montezemolo, Vice President Piero Ferrari and a selected delegation of the company's representatives on the4 morning of the 5th December 2005.
At the meeting, President Montezemolo presented the Holy Father a cheque for €950,000 raised by the sale of the 400th Enzo, a car specially made to be auctioned for charity.
In a previous papal audience, which took place on 17 January, a large group of Ferrari's employees and partners - including F1 drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello - met the late Pope John Paul II. Luca di Montezemolo offered to donate the auction proceedings of this extraordinary vehicle for humanitarian purposes. Sold by Sotheby's, the Enzo reached the significant sum of €950,000, over 50% more than its list price.

The modern apprenticeship programme was launched to develop Britain's finest technicians who will work on the world's most prestigious sports cars.
The Ferrari Modern Apprenticeship Programme was created in 2004 to produce fully qualified technicians with specialist product knowledge for the franchised dealer network, and the first six apprentices started their training last year.
Now in their second year of training, they are being followed by a further six candidates from across the country embarking on a programme of continuous personal development, leading to a recognised IMI qualification, factory-backed training and the most interesting career in the retail motor industry.
The six trainees are employed by official Ferrari dealers and follow a programme of on-the-job and classroom training delivered by ReMIT, the foremost training provider for the retail motor industry.

Luca di Montezemolo and Sergio Pininfarina announced today in Maranello the winners of the Car Design competition that greatly excited the upcoming automotive design talents from all over the world.
The 20 finalists models have been conceived by students coming from 13 different countries, representing four renowned schools - College for Creative Studies of Detroit, Coventry University School of Art & Design, Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin and Tokyo Communication Arts.
This morning, the young designers introduced their 1:4 scale models to the jury, as well as a series of sketches and concepts of the inside and the outside of their designs.
The winning models are:

612 Lafayette - by Shigenori Maeda (Japan), from the College for Creative Studies of Detroit, has won the Alcoa Award, a special design prize for Excellence Design for Aluminium: the winner will receive an aluminium reproduction of his model.
The Sunday Times, the leading UK Sunday newspaper, also presented its special Reader's Award to the Ferrari F Zero project.
The competition, organised in partnership with Pininfarina and with the support of Alcoa (the company that produces aluminium spaceframes for Ferrari) has seen works from the most talented students of each college, who have been challenging themselves to produce 1:4 scale Ferrari models, proposing stimulating alternatives to the internationally acclaimed shapes of the current and previous mid-engined eight cylinder cars and the front-engined twelve cylinder cars. The students have had total creative freedom, although their designs had to retain the recognizable features and values of the Ferrari Marque.
The jury was composed of a team that, in real life, decides the style of Ferrari cars designated for production: President Luca di Montezemolo, Vice President Piero Ferrari, General Manager Jean Todt, Vice General Manager Amedeo Felisa, the new Concept Design Chief Donato Coco and the Head of Product Portfolio Development Massimo Fumarola. In addition, Life Senator Sergio Pininfarina and Ken Okuyama, Chief Designer for Pininfarina, were part of the jury. Even Giuseppe Bonollo and Frank Stephenson, currently Responsible for Product Portfolio Management of Fiat, and Responsible for Fiat and Lancia's Style Centre respectively, took part in the jury, as previously Ferrari's Responsible for Product Strategies and Responsible for Concept Design.
During the last three weeks, the section of the site www.ferrariworld.com, containing photos of the twenty finalists, was visited by more than 22,000 users, who have expressed their personal judgment on the different proposals. |

Maranello, 26 October 2005 - The new Ferrari's concepts of the myth are now a reality. The selection of the 20 best nominees for the Ferrari of the future, created by automotive design students of four of the most prestigious schools worldwide (Center for Creative Studies of Detroit, Coventry School of Art and Design, European Institute of Design of Turin and Tokyo Communication Arts), will be exhibited at the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello, starting from this Friday, 28 October.
The contest, organised in partnership with Pininfarina and with the support of Alcoa - the company that produces aluminium spaceframes for Ferrari - has seen at work, in the last months, the most talented of each college. The students have been challenging themselves in the production of scale 1:4 Ferrari models, innovative and fresh in style and functionality as well as in external and internal volumes, proposing stimulating alternatives to the internationally acclaimed shapes of the current and previous mid-engined eight cylinder cars and the front-engined twelve cylinder cars.
On 18 November, the Galleria Ferrari will host the prize-giving ceremony. The 20 selected projects will be voted by a technical board of jurors, including the Ferrari Style Committee, whose main members are Luca di Montezemolo, Piero Ferrari, Jean Todt, Amedeo Felisa e Massimo Fumarola - and the senior management of Pininfarina (Senator Sergio Pininfarina, Andrea Pininfarina and Ken Okuyama).
For the four winners, the exceptional opportunity of work experience at Ferrari or Pininfarina, transforming the academic project into professional practice. To these, the winner of the Alcoa award, who will get an aluminum reproduction of its model and, in case of significant proposals, special mentions will be added. |

Coco's role will be to lead design coordination and strategy and to stimulate and address Ferrari partners' creativity that, as far as styling is concerned, has Pininfarina as a historical point of reference.
Donato Coco was born in Italy, but he soon moved abroad. His studies in architecture in Besanson (France) and Automotive Design in London, led him to an international career.
In 1983, Coco won a design contest and he joined Citroen where he signed key style projects for the French firm.

| Success for Ferrari's 15,000 red miles tour |
Ferrari's 15,000 Red Miles Tour, an unprecedented adventure which has seen two 612 Scaglietti travel all over China, is concluding in Shanghai, in front of Fiat Group's Vice President John Elkann and numerous Ferrari lovers and supporters. To mark the occasion, Shanghai's architectural symbol, the Oriental Pearl Tower, an amazing 468 metre high building, is illuminated in red to celebrate the end of the tour as well as the first year of Ferrari's presence in China.
Last year Ferrari received an important award: for the first time an Italian brand was given the title of Renowned Brand by the Chinese Office for Trade Marks. Honoured by this important tribute, President Luca di Montezemolo has declared: I dreamt of Ferrari being in China since 1993 even though the restrictions on imports were enormous. Today the situation has changed and Ferrari now has its own trading organisation with complete customer support, and may as well aspire to turn China into one of the six leading world markets. Shanghai's tribute to Ferrari, after New York's Empire State Building was lit up in red last year, confirms once again Ferrari's capability of arousing passion all over the world.
The 15,000 Red Miles Tour is a formidable challenge, never before undertaken by any automotive company: 51 Chinese and international journalists alternating at the steering wheel, more than 24,000 kilometres covered, 1,600 on very rough roads, 5,231 metres in height reached in Tibet, 45 five days travelling, 420 hours driving, up to 900 kilometres per day, 37 towns crossed; all this achieved with just two rims damaged due to the holes in the ground and two sets of snow tyres for the most impervious regions. No oil refills were needed. Notwithstanding the low quality of fuel in some areas, the often critical conditions of the roads and the astonishing heights reached, all this was realised by the two Scaglietti.
Extremes of climate, and difficult roads and environmental obstacles characterised this tour: starting in Shanghai, the expedition first headed north, then east towards Manchuria, and finally south-west to Beijing to drive alongside the Great Wall to Lanzhou.
After having crossed Tibet up to Lhasa, the two Scaglietti turned west through the Gobi desert and reached Kashi, the ancient town on the Silk Route described by Marco Polo and the most continental site on earth. Driving further across the desert, they reached Urumqi and then down through the tropical region to Guangzhou, better known as Canton. Here the route turned to the most Western and modern part of China with the conclusion today in Shanghai.
The expedition was welcomed enthusiastically in every single town, thus confirming Ferrari's following throughout the country. A plaque of the Prancing Horse, as a token of friendship, was offered to local authorities, while the team brought presents and educational material to the schools.
Ferrari has benefited from the precious support of Chinese Authorities and has availed itself of Fiat China's logistical assistance for the organisation of this journey, sponsored by some of its most faithful partners, such as Shell (fuel and lubricants, with specific assistance in the most difficult areas), Puma (for the team's clothing), Alcoa (technical partner and 612's aluminium chassis supplier), Pirelli (special tyres for the different stages of the tour) and Saima Avandero (cars and spare parts shipping). A Chinese partner as well took part in the enterprise, Xin Yu Watch & Clock, Swiss watches' main distributor in China. Two PowerDaily Iveco as a support and one Iveco 4x4 VM40.10 for technical assistance, tyre and spare parts transport and two Fiat Palio Weekend for video and photo shooting.
Ferrari in China
Ferrari has been present in China since 1993: initially with an importer in Hong Kong and, since last year, with a joint venture. Ferrari Maserati Cars International Trading, in which Ferrari and Maserati are the main shareholders, was set up in October 2004.
Ferrari Maserati Cars International Trading is the exclusive importer of Ferrari and Maserati cars in China, and is responsible for the marketing activities, sales to the dealer network, spare parts, accessories and technical support for both brands. Local personnel are directly trained by Italian Headquarters, in order to provide customers the best assistance, up to Ferrari and Maserati standards. The dealer network should be up and running by November in 10 major Chinese cities (Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Panyu, Shenzen, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Chengdu, Xiamen and Chongqing).
Looking at China's dynamic growth it is possible for Ferrari to foresee that this market may strongly develop in the near future; the current allocation of 90 Ferrari cars for 2005 may quickly rise in the next two or three years to make China one of the leading six markets for the Prancing Horse.
